Welcome to the Nantahala Fria Running Festival Page
The Nantahala Fria Running Festival will be held February 19th, 2011 near Franklin, North Carolina. The festival will offer 50K, 50 mile and 100 mile run options.
This run is invitation-only and is an extreme ultrarun. It consists mainly of single track trail along with some gravel road. Conditions in the past have included temperatures in the low teens, with wind chills below zero, along with ice and snow. This run is hazardous due to the temperature, numerous creek crossings, poor footing, and isolation. This run is self-supported, with limited aid available.
